Agent chat works with Subframe AI credits or an existing Claude Code or Codex subscription. To let the agent work in a local project, connect your codebase.

Using Subframe AI credits

Subframe AI credits let you use models in Agent chat without connecting another subscription.
  1. Open Agent chat
  2. Click the model name at the bottom of the chat
  3. Select a model under Subframe Credits
Messages use the Subframe AI credits included with your seat.

Connecting your Claude Code or Codex subscription

Connecting a subscription lets you use its models inside Subframe. This requires the desktop app.
  1. Open Agent chat, click the model name, then select Manage agents
  2. Click Connect under Claude Code
  3. Sign in with your Anthropic subscription

Choosing a model and effort

  1. Click the model name at the bottom of Agent chat
  2. Select a model from your subscription or Subframe Credits
  3. Select an Effort level if the model supports it

Disconnecting your subscription

  1. Click the model name and select Manage agents
  2. Click Connected under Claude Code or Codex
  3. Select Disconnect

Using an external agent

To work from Cursor, Replit, or another AI tool outside Subframe, connect it through the Subframe MCP server.
